The Jat people is a large 31 million strong ethnic group spread over of north west India, Pakistan and with large populations living in the EU, US, Canada, Australia and UK.

The Jat people have produced famous personalities in all the field of life such as Rajas, Politicians, Generals, Administrators, scientists, intellectuals, Actors, Freedom fighters, Reformers, Technocrats, Players, Industrialists and Businessmen. This is a partial list of famous Jat people belonging to the Jat people born in or with immigrant ancestral-family roots from Northern India and Pakistan, alphabetically within categories:

  • Major General (r) Muhammad Javed, currently Chairman Pakistan Steel Mills.
  • Lt. Gen (r) Imtiaz Ahmad Warraich.
  • Maj Gen (r) Saeed Ahmed Wahla (1945-): General Wahla gained commission into the Ordinance corp of the Pakistan army in 1964 and took part in the 1965 and 1971 wars. He went on to become the first Jat to be made Director General of Ordinance Services (DGOS), a post he held till his retirement in 1997. Prior to retirement he received Hilal-e-Imtiaz (m) for his endless commitment in the service of his country.
  • Brigadier Chaudhary Zakaullah Bhangoo, an eminent pilot
  • Brigadier General Zulfiqar Ahmad Dhillon, former Minster of Education for Punjab and prominent Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Recipients of the Nishan-E-Haider - (Sign/Order of the Lion), the highest Gallantry award given by Pakistan. It is awarded to select soldiers who display an incredible amount of valor and courage on the battle field in the face of staunch adversity. Only ten of these prestigious awards have ever been served, one of them being Jatt, despite Pakistan been involved in three wars (Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and a major conflict in Kargil. It is the most difficult Award to be achieved.

  • Professor B.S. Dhillon is a world famous scholar on the Jat people and Chairman of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Engineering Management Program at the University of Ottawa.
  • Professor Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, famous scholar and author, Professor of Information Systems, Author of "Principles of Information Systems Security" (Wiley) and Editor of Journal of Information System Security.
  • Dr. Gurdev S. Khush: World food prize, major role in green revolution
  • Professor Baldev Singh Dhillon, he is an internationally famous Agricultural scientist and former Director Research at Punjab Agricultural University.
  • Dr. Giri Raj Singh Sirohi - US Board of Geographical Names named a point at 83 57 S. Latitude, 170 06 E. Longitude as SIROHI POINT on South Pole, Antarctica to honour Dr. G.S. Sirohi's research on Biological Clock at South Pole[67]
  • Rajesh K Pillania- Dr Rajesh K Pillania is a globally respected & famous researcher and has published/presented numerous research papers. He is being invited by leading international business schools, universities and policy centres for talks. Professor Pillania serves on advisory boards of leading international research journals , conferences and professional bodies. He is Honorary Chairman of Institute for Emerging Markets. Currently he is a faculty at MDI, Gurgaon, India and Visiting Fellow at Northumbria University, UK.
  • Dr. M. Sulaiman Kakli: First Pakistani at Yale University, New Haven Connecticut, USA. Founder and first President of PSA (Pakistan Students' Association of America). Chief Food and Agriculture Section, Planning Division, Government of Pakistan. Project Director, National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), Planning Division, Government of Pakistan.
  • Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch [2] Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Registered Patent Agent, Patent Office, Govt. of India, Basic Course (DL-101) on IPRs from WIPO, Geneva, Now working at Department of Biotechnology, Punjabi University, Patiala-147002, Punjab, INDIA (Earlier worked as Scientist at Patent Information Centre, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (A Goverenment of Punjab undertaking) for more than six years, having vast experience of various Intellectual Property Rights related Issues like Patents, Trademarks, Industrial Designs, Copyrights, Geographical Indication of Goods, etc.) [3][4][5] [6]
